The Story My Hands Have Been Telling
Clay has been an important teacher in my life. It never ceases to reveal my patterns, remind me of the truths of how life works, and hold me through the myriad of emotions and complex experiences that come with being human.
Working with clay has accompanied me as I've explored my family history, navigated experiences of brokenness and healing, practiced meditation through tactile engagement, and built community by creating functional pieces that bring beauty into everyday life.
Clay is also one of my favorite therapeutic tools to invite people into. Many people are naturally curious about it, yet don't feel the same pressure to be "an artist" as they often do with drawing or painting. At the end of the day, clay is simply earth; therefore, it carries profound wisdom. It invites us to slow down, find our grounding and center, and discover what emerges as we play, explore, build, and create.
Below are a few pieces I've created throughout the last decade. I am continuing to deepen my ceramic practice by making space for it as a regular part of my life because I know the healing, regulation, and joy it offers me. I am also working towards building a dedicated space where I can invite others to experience the wisdom of clay through therapeutic groups, workshops, and community events.
